Terms of Service | Flat Circle

By using Flat Circle, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Flat Circle Is

Flat Circle is a voice-first memory app designed to help parents and families record, encrypt, store, export, and later unlock personal memories.

The service is designed around:

client-side encryption
private memory storage
export to user-controlled storage
future delivery as a reminder service, not an infrastructure promise

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to agree to these Terms and use the service. If you use Flat Circle on behalf of a family, you are responsible for the account and the information you choose to store or schedule.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for:

keeping your login credentials secure
all activity under your account
using a real email address you control

You must not share access in ways that violate privacy, law, or these Terms.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of your content.

By using Flat Circle, you give us a limited right to host, transmit, process, and store your information only as needed to operate the service, such as:

storing encrypted blobs
storing encrypted metadata and delivery settings
generating presigned upload/download access
sending reminder emails you configure

We do not claim ownership of your memories.

5. Encryption and Recovery

Flat Circle is designed so that memory content is encrypted on your device before upload. We do not store your encryption keys.

That means:

if you lose the password or required local key material, your encrypted memories may become unrecoverable
future delivery is best-effort and depends in part on the information you provide
your export bundle and password are the primary durability path

You are responsible for storing recovery information, exported bundles, and credentials appropriately.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Flat Circle to:

violate laws or regulations
infringe others' rights
upload malicious code or abuse the service
attempt to bypass security or access accounts you do not control
use the service to store or distribute content you do not have the right to use

We may suspend or terminate access for abuse, misuse, or security reasons.

7. Future Delivery

Future delivery is a reminder and scheduling feature. It is not a guarantee that Flat Circle will exist or operate forever, nor is it estate planning, legal custody, or a "memory guardian" service.

The product’s long-term durability model is export portability, not perpetual hosted delivery.

8. Availability and Changes

We may modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time.

Because Flat Circle is still evolving, some parts of the service may be labeled beta, experimental, or incomplete.

9. Open Source and Hosted Service

Parts of Flat Circle may be available as open source software under separate license terms. Those licenses govern the source code itself.

These Terms govern your use of the hosted service and related product experience.

10. Disclaimers

Flat Circle is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent allowed by law.

We do not guarantee:

uninterrupted service
permanent availability
that future delivery will always succeed
that encrypted content can be recovered if you lose required credentials

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Flat Circle and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, content, goodwill, profits, or business interruption.

If liability cannot be fully excluded, it will be limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Termination

You may stop using Flat Circle at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access if:

you violate these Terms
your use creates security or legal risk
we discontinue the service

Termination does not automatically remove exported bundles stored in your own cloud storage.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
